Based in Vidalia, Georgia, Piggly Wiggly Southern was a leading full-service supermarket chain with a presence in central and southeast Georgia.  At the time of Freeman Spogli’s investment, Piggy Wiggly Southern had a dominant presence in its markets and a modern warehouse system strategically located to service all stores.  Freeman Spogli realized its investment in Piggly Wiggly Southern through a sale of the company to Bruno’s Supermarkets in 1988.
