Based in New York, New York, Brylane was a leading specialty apparel catalog retailer whose catalogs included Chadwick’s, the largest catalog offering off-price women’s apparel; Lane Bryant and Roamans, the two largest plus size women’s apparel catalogs; Lerner, a leading women’s apparel catalog offering regular sizes; KingSize, the second largest men’s special size apparel catalog; and Bridgewater and Sue Brett. In 1997, Brylane completed an initial public offering (NYSE: BYL). Freeman Spogli realized its investment in Brylane through a public market transaction in 1997 and the eventual sale of the company to Pinault Printemps-Redoute in 1998.
