Based in Great Falls, Montana, Buttrey Food & Drug Stores was a leading supermarket and pharmacy retailer, with a presence in Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming.  In 1992, Buttrey Food & Drug Stores completed an initial public offering (NASDAQ: BTRY).  Freeman Spogli realized its investment in Buttrey Food & Drug Stores through public market transactions and an eventual sale of the company to Albertson’s in 1998.
